If you are thinking about joining us for Everest Base Camp trek, the best season would be from February –May (Pre monsoon) or October- November (Post monsoon). During pre-monsoon, due to dry and stable weather, the climate of Everest Base Camp for trekking is quite pleasant and relaxing. You will get to see the spectacular views of the snow-capped landscape. As for the post-monsoon, the weather in this period is colder with less haze and is more comfortable. This season is also great time for hiking to Gokyo Lakes and experiencing breath-taking sceneries. However, there will be a lot trekkers at this season so the tea houses will be packed. While from May and June, the season will be hot for trekking.

Along the Everest Base Camp trek, you will also visit the domestic market- Namche Bazar and Tengboche Monastery to get insights about our cultures and architectures. Also, there is sightseeing of the exotic Khumbu Glacier and tours of historical UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu- the capital city. The Khumbu region has its delightful flora and fauna that leads to magnificent highland terrains and luxurious snow-capped mountains. 

The Everest Base Camp trek for 14 days will include your arrival and departure days. Your trip will start from Kathmandu (1300m) to Everest Base Camp (5364m) and Kala Patthar (5550 m). You will be accommodated with hotels, lodges, food, transportation -including domestic flight, manpower, security and other required equipment.

 

BEST SEASON FOR EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK

October-November/December is considered comfort season for trekking in the Everest region. Travelers travelling during this season will be able to spot the best views of mountain ranges and marvelous scenery of Himalayas. Weather remains fine with clear sky during this trekking season.

February to April remains dry in Nepal and is the second best time for trekking.

June to September is the monsoon season in Nepal with frequent downpour which makes this the least popular season for trekking for general trekkers, while the botanist and other enthusiast look out for lush vegetation and rare vegetation en route Everest Base Camp. 

May and June are hot and it can get very warm during the trek.

Day-wise Itinerary
Detailed itinerary for 12 Days Everest Base Camp (EBC) Kalapathar Trek

We board a flight to Lukla (2,850m/9,350 ft) early in the morning. It takes 30 minutes to arrive at Lukla airport. Then we trek to Phakding (2650 m/ 8562 ft) - Walking Distance (6.2km/3.85 miles) - 3 hours.

Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,285 ft) - Walking Distance (7.4km/4.6 miles) - 6 hours

We start with a steep one-hour climb to the Syangboche (3790m), from where we will slowly ascend towards Khunde. From Khunde, we follow the trail eastwards to Khumjung, at the foot of the sacred peak Khumbila. After enjoying lunch at Khumjung, we gradually climb to Everest View Hotel where we will enjoy the splendid mountain views. Then we descend towards Namche (3540m).

Today after breakfast we start our trek from Namche to Tengboche.

Today we will start our journey downhill through a forest, cross the Imja Khola and climb steadily to the village of Pangboche. Pangboche village lies directly opposite to the Mt. Ama Dablam [6,856 m], and has exceptional views of the mountain, with the gompa, mani walls and scattered pine trees in the foreground. We walk further two hours walk up to Pheriche where we will spend our night tonight.

Accommodation: Overnight at Pheriche.

Today is our rest day at Pheriche. We will explore the valley to look at a lake, the Tshola Tsho and the perpendicular walls of Cholatse and Tawache. We can climb up onto the ridge overlooking Dingboche for the view of the Imja Valley and the incredible south face of Mt. Lhotse.

Accommodation: Overnight at Pheriche.

 

After morning breakfast will will start our trekking journey to Lobuche.It takes about 5 hours us to reach Lobuche.

We will take a 2 hour’s hike up to Gorakshep. First part is nice and easy but one hour later the trail starts to get harder, once we climb about 150m then trail gets better again. Short after we will get to the moraine. Finally we get to 5160m, the world’s highest settlement at Gorakshep. Once we have lunch, we begin our walk to Everest base camp. We will be walking on side ridge of the Khumbu glacier. After walking on the ridge for about one and half hours, we cross the Glacier and into the Everest base camp area. Today we reach Everest base camp at an altitude of 5360m. We will be able to meet and talk to other mountain climbers at the base camp. We can get a good view of Khumbu glacier and Khumbu Ice fall. From there we can also see the big crevasses in the climbing way. After appreciating our own efforts and photographing the achievements, we start our way back to Gorakshep. (6-7 hour)

We will start an early morning hike to Kalapathar. We spend some time enjoying the sunrise on the splendid Himalayan ranges, relishing in a unique view and experience and head back to Pheriche.

We retrace our steps back to Namche about 6 hours from Pheriche. We will accomodate tonight at Lodge of Namche village with full board meals (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). We chill out today here with some beers and enjoy some relevant comfort.

Accommodation: Overnight at lodge in Namche.

Today is our last day to spend these lovely mountains. We backtrack our hike towards Lukla via the Dudh Koshi River which takes about 7 hours from Namche

Today we fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu. Free day at Kathmandu. After we transfer you to hotel. you can spend rest of the day at your choice; feel free to relax or explore the local markets.

As today is your last day at Kathmandu, we will be offering you Farewell Dinner followed by Nepali Cuisine Food and Cultural Dance.
