Everest Three Passes Trek via Renjo Pass, Chola Pass and Khongma La Pass is a famous adventure trekking experience offering the challenging, adventurous, and thrilling trekking experience to the famous Gokyo Lake, through the three high passes of Renjo La (5360m), Cho La (5420m), and Kongma La (5535m). This trek passes through the famous high passes of the Everest region to reach Gokyo Lake. While passing through these high passes, traveler enjoys the breathtaking views of massive mountains such as Everest (8848m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Makalu (8481m), Pumori (7161m), Ama Dablam (6856m), Lhotse (8516m), Nuptse (7861m), and many other mountain peaks in the Khumbu region. 

Everest Three Trek is one of the popular trekking among adventure trekkers. This trek encompasses the adventure thrilling trekking routes of Everest base camp. Namche Bazar, the three high passes, Gokyo RI, and Gokyo Lake in the Everest region. This trek is a bit challenging and more adventurous as compared with the Everest base camp trek. The average hiking hour is about 5-6 hrs per day.

Day-wise Itinerary
Detailed itinerary for 20 Days Everest Three Pass trek

Paradise Himalayan Journey staff will pick you up from Tribhuvan International Airpot (TIA) and transfer you to Hotel. Enjoy the pristine culture of "Aththiti Devo Bhawa"  followed by welcome drinks. In the evening, a welcome dinner hosted by Paradise Himalayan Journey. Overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu.

We rest some hours today, explore some beautiful landmarks in Kathmandu valley till Lunch. You make sure that you pack all the necessary clothes, belongings and equipment for your Everest Three Pass trek. After Lunch, we visit Paradise Himalayan Journey’s office. Our climbing leaders will check our set of climbing equipment to make sure that they are in good condition for our coming journey. We also get introduced to fellow participants and discuss our trip.

We board a flight to Lukla (2,850m/9,350 ft) early in the morning. It takes 30 minutes to arrive at Lukla airport. Then we trek to Phakding (2650 m/ 8562 ft)

Hike: 3 hours.

After breakfast, we start our adventure trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar. After crossing several suspension bridges on the way we reach Monjo village. We continue the steep trails and cross the Dudh Koshi Suspension bridge and reach Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is the gateway to the famous Mt. Everest and other famous trekking peak climbings.

Today is an Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar, Today we hike to Everest View, hotel and down to Khumjung and Khunde village for visiting Monasteries.

Hike: 2-3 hours.

Today, after breakfast we start our trek towards Thame. The trekking trail passing through several villages, Chortens, prayer flags, and monasteries and you will be able to view the skyline graced with several snow-capped mountains of the Khumbu region when ascending alongside the Bhote Koshi River. Crossing the bridge over the Bhote Koshi, we arrive at Thame.

Today we leave Thame behind and begin our adventure trek climbing and follow a route across the Nangpa-La to Tibet until we reach Marulung. We then continue to ascend to Lumde for an overnight stay.

Max Altitude:  4370m (Lumde)

Hike: 4-5 hours.

Today we start our trek to the most beautiful landmark of Everest region: Gokyo Lake. Gokyo Lake is a fresh water Lake in the Himalayas of Everest originated from the Himalayas. We gradually ascend until we reach Renjo-La (5360m) from where breathtaking views of the Gokyo valley can be felt distantly. We descend to Gokyo valley enjoying the stunning views of Gokyo Lake and the roof of the world. Gokyo valley lies behind the third Gokyo Lake, you can spend some time around the pristine Gokyo Lake.

Hike: 7-8 hours.

There are numerous lakes in the Everest region and all those lakes are originated from the Himalayas or Glacier lakes. Today we take a day off from trekking and hiking adventures and spend our day exploring the Gokyo Valley and Gokyo Lake. We visit Fourth and Fifth Lake climbing the hill on the north shore, spend beautiful days in the region.

Accommodation: Lodge in Gokyo

We start our early morning hike to Gokyo RI with the morning sunrise over the snow-capped mountains and the Himalayas. We get a chance to view the majestic mountains including Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Makalu (8481m), Mt. Nuptse (7861m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m), Mt. Pumori (7161m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m), and other adventure trekking and expedition peaks. We descent down to Gokyo and continue our trek to Thangnak. The trekking trails follow an icy and slippery path through the massive Ngozumpa Glacier to arrive in Thangnak. Overnight in Thangnak.

Max Altitude:  5360m (Gokyo-Ri) 

Hike: 2-3 hours.

Today we cross to our second Pass i.e. Cho La Pass (5420m). Ascending the slippery path with difficult icy crossing, the adventure trekking trails of the Everest region; we reach the top of the Cho La Pass. The Cho La Pass hosts a breathtaking panoramic view of Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m) and Mt. Cholatse (6440m). We descend to Dzongla. Overnight in Dzongla.

Today after breakfast we head towards Gorakshep passing the villages of Lobuche. Gorakshep is a major joining point of the classic trek to EBC. We continue to trek following the trail of the Khumbu Glacier and ascend steeply to reach Gorakshep. Overnight in Gorakshep.

Accommodation: Overnight at Gorakshep

Hike: 6-7 hours.

After a 2 hour hike from Gorakshep, we reach the Everest Base Camp. Today, we spend a full day exploring the Everest Base Camp and areas near EBC. The trekking trail from Gorekshep to Everest Base Camp is a steep ascent on a moraine route. Reaching Base Camp you will be able to experience an unreal view of Mt. Everest (8848m) along with an amazing panorama of Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Nuptse (7861m), Mt. Khumbutse (6636m), Mt. Lingtren (6749m) and other peaks of Khumbu region.

Accommodation: Overnight at Gorakshep

Max Altitude: 5364m (Everest Base Camp)

Hike: 2-3 hours.

Today we start our early morning hike before sunrise to the Kalapathar to view the amazing sunrise over the mountain peaks, The viewpoints at Kalapathar offers an incredible view of Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Nuptse (7861m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Khumbutse (6636m), and many other peaks of Khumbu region. After the amazing sunrise view, we hike back to the campsite and continue our trek towards Lobuche passing the Changri Glacier. Overnight in Lobuche.

Accommodation: Overnight at Lobuche

Hike: 2-3 hours.

We trek to Chhukhung via our last pass: Khongma-La Pass (5535m). We cross the Khumbu Glacier and continue to ascend towards Khongma-La. After spending some time at Khongma-La Pass top, we continue to steeply descend towards Chhukhung. Overnight in Chhukhung.

Hike: 6-7 hours.

Today we hike through the rocky trails to reach Chhukhung Ri (5550m). The Chhukhung Ri offers great views of Mt. Makalu (8481m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m), and many more peaks. We descend steeply to reach Pangboche via Dingboche and Somare. Overnight in Pangboche.

Accommodation: Overnight at Pangboche

Max Altitude: 3930m (Pangboche)

Hike: 4-5 hours.

We start our trek to Tengboche leaving behind the village of Pangboche through the forested trail. We visit the Tengboche Monastery, which is the biggest monastery in the Khumbu region. We then continue our trek to Namche. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Hike: 5-6 hours.

This is the last day of our trek. Today we trek towards Lukla, the trails follow the forested path filled with rhododendrons and pine trees.

Max Altitude: 2840m (Lukla)

Hike: 6-7 hours.

Today we say goodbye to Everest. Early in the morning, we catch our flight to Lukla. The fly duration is about 40-minute with scenic views of the Himalayas. As Lukla remains busy and the airport is small, we may have to wait even for a few hours to fly back. Reaching Kathmandu, we then transfer you to the hotel in Kathmandu. You may take the rest and in the the evening you can roam around Thamel and Kathmandu city.
